The Tronium architecture promises a radical improvement in efficiency and standby power for ac-dc power supplies. The chip uses a novel building block called the Muxcapacitor to perform voltage pre-regulation, stepping down the primary voltage through a series of “cascading voltage reduction capacitors.”
